Bourne Adds Beach Meditation, Art Show For August 30
BOURNE — Bourne's community calendar gains two new entries for the last weekend of August, with a beachside meditation session and an outdoor art show both set for Sunday, August 30.
SCHOOLS
Bourne Public Schools has locked in its calendar for the start of the new academic year. Staff report for an in-service day on August 31, the same day Bournedale Elementary School holds its welcome back event from 2:30 to 4 p.m. and Bourne Middle School holds its welcome event from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Staff orientation continues September 1, when Bourne High School holds a welcome event for grades 8 and 9 from 4 to 5:30 p.m.
Classes for grades 1 through 12 begin September 2, with kindergartners starting a day later, on September 3. The School Committee holds its first meeting of the school year on September 2, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Bourne High School.
COMMUNITY & ARTS
Two events land on the town's calendar for Sunday, August 30: "Meditations on The Beach," a guided seaside meditation gathering, and "Indie Art by the Sea," an outdoor showcase of independent artists' work. Both are listed on the town's public events calendar.
