Bourne Completes Digital Memorial Project For Town Parks
BOURNE — Bourne has completed a Recreation Area Memorials Project that pairs photographs and family histories with a new online database documenting the people honored at town parks, including Chester Park and Keith Field, the town announced this week. The rollout lands as two town boards close applications for open seats and as Bourne Public Schools prepares to open its doors for the new year.

Two town boards are also in their final days of accepting applications. The Planning Board has one vacancy, with applications due by 4 p.m. Wednesday, September 2, and the School Committee has an open seat for a term running through the 2027 Town Election, with the same September 2 deadline.
SCHOOLS Bourne Public Schools holds Staff Orientation Day Tuesday, September 1, followed by a Bourne High School welcome event for grades 8 and 9 that afternoon. Classes for grades 1 through 12 resume Wednesday, September 2, the same day the School Committee meets from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bourne High School. Kindergarten students start Thursday, September 3, and Pre-K begins September 8.
COMING UP Dancing Under the Stars returns Tuesday evening, September 1, with a second date set for September 8. The Zoning Board of Appeals, Conservation Commission, Library Building Committee, Police Station Roof Replacement Building Committee and the BPS Policy Sub-Committee all have meetings scheduled for September 2 and 3. Schools are closed Friday, September 4, and for Labor Day on Monday, September 7. Meditations on the Beach is set for Sunday, September 6, and again September 13, and Habitat for Humanity's Ride for Homes is scheduled for September 13.
