Falmouth Posts No-Swimming Signs at Megansett After Bacteria Test

FALMOUTH — The town posted "no swimming" signs at Megansett on Wednesday after a water sample taken July 15 showed elevated bacteria levels, with additional test results still pending, according to the town's official News Flash.

Following its standard procedure, the town said it posted the no-swimming notice within an hour of Barnstable County's notification about the Megansett sample, and is awaiting further testing before deciding whether to lift the advisory.

Road closures tied to the town's ongoing sewer project construction remain in effect, per an update the town posted July 10. Brick Kiln Road stays closed between Sandwich Road and Oxbow Road, and Maravista Avenue Extension remains closed between Teaticket Highway and Mattapan Street, both restrictions running 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays.
