Flash Flood Watch Raises Concern Across Massachusetts, Falmouth Included
FALMOUTH — A Flash Flood Watch tied to tropical downpours is raising concern across Massachusetts, with forecasters warning of a potentially "life-threatening flood event," even as Falmouth's library and civic calendar push ahead with new offerings this week.

Falmouth's Department of Public Works continues sewer project work that keeps Brick Kiln Road closed between Sandwich Road and Oxbow Road, and Maravista Avenue Extension closed between Teaticket Highway and Maravista Avenue, both on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., according to the town's July 24 construction update. The town also reminds residents that first-quarter fiscal 2027 real estate tax bills are due August 3.
The Zoning Board of Appeals is scheduled to hold a public hearing and open meeting Thursday, July 30, per the town's online calendar.

The Falmouth Public Library's Main branch continues a busy stretch of programming this week, including "Road to Revolution: The Boston Tea Party" running all day Thursday, July 30, and a Lego Free Build session at 2:30 p.m. the same day. A Scavenger Hunt is planned for Friday, July 31, at 11 a.m.
Looking just ahead, the Upper Cape Camera Club opens its photo exhibit "Fun on Cape Cod" on Saturday, August 1, running all day at the Main library. The East Falmouth branch has Library LEGO Time at 3:30 p.m. and Why Knot Knit Nite at 5 p.m. on July 30, while the North Falmouth branch hosts a Scavenger Hunt at 2 p.m. on July 31.
