Library Sets Author Talks, Free Jazz Concert for Coming Week

Eastham Public Library will host award-winning author Sarah Patrick on Tuesday for a talk on her memoir about leaving a high-control religious community, part of a full slate of library programming this week that also includes a free jazz concert and two online author events.

Sarah Patrick discusses her book "Binding Shame: Life Inside a Cult of Obedience" at the library's Greg Turner Meeting Room on Tuesday, Sept. 22, from 6 to 8 p.m. As of the library's latest posting, 46 seats remained for the in-person program.

On Thursday, Sept. 24, the library streams two online talks with Grammy-winning artist and children's author Lucky Diaz on his book "Where the Paletero Man Goes," an English-language session at 7 p.m. followed by a Spanish-language talk, "Paletero Man: un viaje por el barrio, la música y el arte," at 8 p.m.

The library and the Provincetown Jazz Festival team up again Friday, Sept. 25, from 2 to 3 p.m. for a free concert in the Greg Turner Meeting Room featuring drummer Bart Weisman with Bill Pernice on piano and Ron Ormsby on bass, open to all ages.

COMING UP

The library's weekly children's programs continue this week: Rise & Shine for babies and toddlers up to age 4 meets Tuesday, Sept. 22, at 10:15 a.m., and Story Time for young children meets Thursday, Sept. 24, at 10:30 a.m. An adult Short Story discussion is set for Wednesday, Sept. 23, at 2 p.m. in the Eastham Room. The Council on Aging's Zumba/Dance and Chair Yoga class meets Friday, Sept. 25, from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m.; residents can call the COA at 774-801-3151 with questions or to register. On Saturday, Sept. 26, from 11 a.m. to noon, Mrs. Brown leads the Fairy Tale Library Lab for children ages 6 to 11 in the Children's Program Room.
