The Eastham Board of Library Trustees voted 3-0 to adopt a revised gift acceptance policy separating temporary art loans from permanent gifts.
Library Trustees · Meeting of October 27, 2026
EASTHAM — The Eastham Board of Library Trustees voted 3-0 to adopt a revised gift acceptance policy separating temporary art loans from permanent gifts. Community Preservation Committee chair Mary Shaw presented the library with a commemorative sign documenting a $40,000 grant the library received in fiscal year 2015 for humidity control, alongside a related $75,000 grant for the VIS building. The library's draft fiscal year 2028 budget shifts routine maintenance costs, including fire alarm service and elevator inspection, to the town's Department of Public Works budget, freeing funds to boost the library's materials line while keeping overall non-salary expenses roughly level, described as a "nominal" roughly $200 increase.
The change is expected to reduce the required contribution from the Friends of the Library to that line by about 4 percent. The library also posted an opening for an Assistant Director/Adult Services Librarian position ahead of the retirement of outgoing Assistant Director Karen McDonald, with interviews planned for mid- and late November.
