Orleans Cultural Council Expands Student Art Show to Four Schools for November

ORLEANS — April 6, 2026 — Orleans Cultural Council expands November art show to four schools and advances Movies in the Park planning. Meeting April 6 in the Skaket Room at Town Hall, the five-member council — chaired by Brian Smith and including Treasurer Heather Morin — unanimously approved March minutes and received word that two supplemental grants had been distributed: $890 to the Creative Development Series through P-Town Commons and $1,900 to the Orleans Senior Center, the latter nearly doubling an earlier allocation and restoring a music program that had been canceled. The expanded November art show will include Nauset High School, Nauset Middle School, Cape Cod Charter School, and Orleans Elementary School — the last a new addition — with last year's show drawing roughly 100 pieces from a smaller group. Members narrowed preferred show dates to November 5, 6, 12, or 13, with a final vote targeted for the May 4 meeting. On Movies in the Park, Smith will email the Recreation Department's contact Tom to assess existing town plans and avoid duplication, after years of failed attempts that included a licensing dispute that once forced a cancellation. The council also agreed to skip July and August meetings and to reschedule its September meeting, currently set for Labor Day, to either August 31 or September 14.
