Patuisset Beach Reopens for Swimming, Town Announces

BOURNE — Patuisset Beach is back open for swimming, the town announced through its official News Flash service, as Bourne moves through a stretch of summer that also brings a new four-way stop at a busy Buzzards Bay-area intersection, a run of town board meetings, and a slate of outdoor community events.

TOWN HALL The town's News Flash feed reported that Patuisset Beach has reopened for swimming, though the notice did not specify what had prompted the closure or when the reopening took effect.

Separately, the town confirmed that the intersection of Barlows Landing Road and Shore Road has been running as a four-way stop since the change took effect in late June, a traffic-pattern shift residents and drivers in that area should continue to expect.

SCHOOLS Bourne Public Schools' calendar shows a run of district meetings heading into the fall: the School Committee is set to meet August 5 at Bourne High School, the Bourne PTA meets August 12 at the Bourne Middle School media center, and a "Meet the Coaches" event is scheduled at Bourne High School on August 18. The district's Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging Committee also has a meeting on the books for this coming week (see Coming Up).

COMMUNITY & ARTS Bourne's summer outdoor-event lineup continues this week, with the town's calendar listing "Meditations on the Beach," the "Dancing Under the Stars" program, and the recurring Canal Region Farmers Market & Concerts by the Canal series — all concrete, dated community gatherings for residents looking to get outside in the coming days (see Coming Up for specific dates).
