Truro Closes Puma Park, Corn Hill Lot for Maintenance
Two of Truro's best-known outdoor spots are heading into maintenance closures this fall, and the town flagged a cyanobacteria advisory at Ryder Pond as residents head into the last full week of September.
TOWN HALL Puma Park Playground will close September 21 through October 5 for necessary maintenance, the town announced on its website, saying it "can't wait to welcome you back soon" once the work wraps up. Separately, the Corn Hill parking lot will close beginning September 28 for maintenance; the town is asking anyone with watercraft or paddle craft stored there to remove them as soon as possible.
The town's website also carried a cyanobacteria advisory for Ryder Pond, posted by the Cape Cod National Seashore, urging caution around the water.
Elsewhere at Town Hall, the Community Preservation Committee will hold an information session September 30 for groups interested in applying for CPC grants covering open space, historic preservation, community housing and recreation projects. Any town committee, group of ten taxpayers, or nonprofit or for-profit organization is eligible to apply. Residents can also now schedule flu shots ahead of the town's October 19 flu clinic through MyChart, the Cape Cod Healthcare website, or by calling central scheduling at 508-957-8600.
COMMUNITY & ARTS The Truro Public Library has opened a new exhibit in its Anne H. Brock Room featuring "Land & Sea," paintings by artist Elizabeth Lazeren Daglio. The library is also hosting "Witnessing the Outer Cape: A Convergence of Poetry and Photography" on September 22, and the Friends of the Truro Library are sponsoring a season of virtual author talks.
COMING UP Select Board member Mara Glatzel holds office hours September 21 from 10:30 a.m. to noon, ahead of the board's hybrid regular meeting September 22 from 3:30 to 8 p.m. The School Committee holds a hybrid meeting September 23 from 1 to 3 p.m. at 317 Route 6, and the Housing Authority meets remotely the same day from 11 a.m. to noon. The library hosts "Cut the Cord" September 23, and a virtual youth program, "Where the Paletero Man Goes," featuring Lucky Diaz, runs September 24.
