Truro Select Board Responds to Provincetown in Regional Water Dispute
TRURO — The Truro Select Board sent a letter to the Provincetown Select Board on August 11, responding to a July 27 letter and continuing a string of correspondence between the two towns over regional water issues, according to the town's website. Town Hall also flagged a Planning Board push for new zoning ideas, a childcare voucher deadline, and a reminder that short-term rental registration has moved fully online.
TOWN HALL
The Select Board's August 11 letter to Provincetown addresses the neighboring town's July 27 letter and what the town describes as "prior regional water correspondence," though the substance of the dispute was not detailed on the town site. Residents can read the full letter through the town's News Flash page.
Separately, the Planning Board is asking residents for their best ideas on new zoning bylaws for Truro ahead of its Wednesday, August 19 meeting at 5 p.m. The town's Open Space and Recreation Plan process is also moving forward, with a virtual forum set for September 16 to gather input on open space and recreation priorities for the next decade; residents can also submit ideas by emailing pio@truro-ma.gov.
On the administrative side, the town's 2026 short-term rental registration process is now entirely online, with a $450 permit fee that includes inspection; payments are no longer accepted at Town Hall, by mail, or by phone. Families seeking Childcare Voucher Program funding for the full year must apply by 4 p.m. on August 31, with a second application window opening in February 2027 only if funding remains. The town also posted information on the September 1 state primary, including new ballot colors, party rules, early voting options, and poll pads meant to speed up check-ins.
COMMUNITY & ARTS
The Truro Public Library's Anne H. Brock Room is now hosting "Garden Art: A Community Show," a locally themed exhibit open to library visitors. The library also highlighted its "Plant a Seed, Read" program, made possible by the Friends of the Truro Library.
Looking ahead, the library has an author talk with novelist Susan Choi scheduled for Tuesday, August 18, alongside its regular Mahjong sessions and youth programming including a Children's Community Garden Group.
