Airport Commission · Meeting of September 29, 2026

BARNSTABLE — The Airport Commission questioned management over FAA Part 139 inspection discrepancies. A presenter described faded signs, a windsock holding water, a runway approach light out more than 180 days, and two months of lost self-inspection records, and said the FAA concluded enforcement was not warranted. One member said the lapses "were all preventable." Manager Nelson said the Everest fuel discount agreement carries a 400,000-gallon uplift, about 26 percent of last year's sales, and with Mercury guarantees 700,000 gallons.

Commissioner Bailey moved the Everest agreement. The commission also heard that a five-year Steamship Authority lease is being drafted, parking management will go to bid before the December 31 lease expiration, and two insurance checks over $150,000 each for the Cape Air hangar fire await Town Council approval.
