BARNSTABLE — The Airport Commission considered a $147,750 extension of its TSA screening tent lease. Commissioner Bailey seconded the motion, and the transcript does not record a vote. Manager Nelson said the Sunbelt Rentals tent keeps American and JetBlue passengers from being rescreened when capacity is exceeded.
The commission has paid $14,500 a month, $188,500 this year, and Nelson said the new lease would still save $40,750. The extension would run one year, with a second-year option at the same price. Nelson said "we really do need a terminal optimization plan to have something that's more permanent." The commission then moved toward a closed session on airport manager applications.
