CHATHAM — The Chatham Historical Commission cleared five demolition-delay cases and required wood decking at a Main Street porch rehab. Vice Chair Nancy Barr led the September 15 meeting, confirming Peter Donovan as a full regular member and finding none of the five properties warranted a demolition delay. Member Frank Messina objected that a 94 School Street addition exceeded the 25 percent alteration threshold, calling the resulting mass "too much of a change," but the commission still voted unanimously not to refer the project to the Cape Cod Commission.
At 135 Main Street, trustee Debbie Lamott's porch restoration was approved on condition that decking and railings use wood "rather than the AZEC or PVC" where cost allows. Buyer Edward Acton won approval to demolish a 1946 raised ranch at 40 Uncle Abner's Path to build a home "for our daughter Madison, our son-in-law Ethan, and our grandchild Tatum."
