Board of Health · Meeting of October 29, 2026

EASTHAM — The Eastham Board of Health approved a septic system variance for 35 Bain Road and granted a six-month extension for a separate project at 3 Linwood Trace. Engineer Mike Pimentel of JC Engineering presented the Bain Road project, which replaces a failed system with a MicroFast 0.5 IA unit, a 1,500-gallon tank, and new municipal water service, approved with nitrate nitrogen capped at 19 milligrams per liter and valid until October 29, 2027. The Linwood Trace extension, requested by J.M. O'Reilly and Associates after construction delays, pushes that approval to April 29, 2027, with the board noting "no further extensions of Board of Health approval will be permitted." The board also approved a letter of support for a Community Preservation Act-funded pond management plan, with Health Agent Hillary telling the board "you never know where funding comes from" if the CPA declines.

Staff confirmed composting toilets remain unapproved under Title 5 as an IA alternative, lacking demonstrated nitrogen-reduction capability.
