Falmouth Planning Board approves Red Horse Inn renovation, solar array

Planning Board · Meeting of August 25, 2026

Falmouth Planning Board approves Red Horse Inn expansion and a church solar array on split votes. Chair John Druley presided as the board approved a special permit and site plan review for 28 Falmouth Heights Road LLC's Red Horse Inn renovation, adding 34 rentable rooms and 38 parking spaces, 5-0, with member Eric Hryniewicz not voting on the permit. The board also approved a Church of the Messiah special permit and site plan for two 35-by-14-foot solar arrays at 534 Woods Hole Road, both 4-1 with one abstention.

Vice Chair Patricia Kerfoot warned, "how dare the state say we have to build all these houses, but you can't provide them water," during a discussion of state housing mandates versus Cape water and sewer capacity. The board also continued a Mister Cod design-guidelines hearing to September 22 and forwarded two zoning articles, 17 and 18, to the Select Board unanimously.
