Nauset Regional School Committee Adopts $40.8 Million FY27 Budget Unanimously

ORLEANS — March 18, 2026 — Nauset Regional School Committee unanimously adopts $40.8 million FY27 budget, raising the four-town assessment 4.18 percent. The committee voted 9-0 at its March 18 meeting to approve a gross operating budget of $40,795,328 offset by $8,893,073 in revenue — including $1 million from excess and deficiency funds — yielding a net operating assessment of $31,902,255, a 4.81 percent increase. A gross capital budget of $8,604,295.50, covering construction debt service on the new high school and capital plan projects, was adopted in the same motion. Member Chris Easley raised a pointed process objection before the vote, saying the committee was "traveling blind" without a full accounting of revolving fund balances and E&D status, a departure from prior budget-season practice; the business manager committed to providing that information at the next meeting. The budget was required to reach the four member towns — Brewster, Eastham, Orleans, and Wellfleet — by March 20.
