Patch Report Asks If State Tax Could Push Falmouth Families Off Cape

FALMOUTH — A Falmouth Patch morning briefing this week asked whether a proposed state tax surcharge could push Falmouth families off Cape Cod, even as the town's library calendar stayed full of free summer programming and the Falmouth Art Center prepared to open two new shows.

TOWN HALL

Cleanup continued this week at the Ellen T. Mitchell Bathhouse Beach Administration Building on Surf Drive after Monday's vehicle crash into the building; beach parking permit sales remain relocated to 59 Town Hall Square from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily until further notice, per the town's News Flash. Sewer construction detours also continued, with Brick Kiln Road closed between Sandwich and Oxbow roads and the newer Maravista Avenue closure between Nickerson and Randolph streets both running weekdays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

COMMUNITY & ARTS

The Falmouth Public Library's summer calendar stays busy this week. Main Library hosts a Regal Seagull Robotics Team demonstration Wednesday at 5 p.m., followed by a Retro Game Extravaganza at 5:30 p.m., while the North Falmouth branch debuts a new two-part program, "The Joys of Nature," with back-to-back shows Aug. 19 at 10 and 11 a.m. The East Falmouth branch keeps its own pace with a Stay & Make drop-in craft Wednesday morning.
