Planning Board continues two Hyannis land-use items to September 14

Planning Board · Meeting of August 24, 2026

Barnstable Planning Board postpones two Hyannis hearings after failing to reach a quorum. Acting Chairman Matt Taig, joined only by member Mary Barry, told attendees the board lacked the numbers to act on a special permit for 378 and 384 Barnesville Road and 427 Ianna Road, or on a related approval-not-required plan for the same applicant nearby. The applicant agreed to continue both matters to the board's next regularly scheduled meeting, September 14, 2026, which Taig said will be held virtually.

Because ANR plans carry a statutory review deadline, Taig stressed the applicant's consent to extend that timeline was essential to the continuance, calling it "important as it has a statutory timeline." No hearing, testimony, or public comment occurred on either application's merits.
