Sandwich Police Department Earns State Re-Accreditation

SANDWICH — The Sandwich Police Department has earned re-accreditation from the Massachusetts Police Accreditation Commission, the town announced this week, a credential departments must periodically renew to show they meet statewide policing standards.

TOWN HALL

The Town of Sandwich said it is "proud" of the department's re-accreditation, which followed a review by the state commission of the department's policies and practices. The town did not detail specific findings from the review in its announcement.

Separately, the town has taken its Short-Term Rental Survey offline after discovering an error in it. Officials said the survey will be reissued in about a month, and thanked residents for their patience "as we ensure community input on this important topic is accurately reflected."

In-person early voting for the Sept. 1 state primary is underway at Town Hall, running Saturday, Aug. 22, through Friday, Aug. 28, giving residents a full week to cast ballots ahead of election day.

COMMUNITY & ARTS

Organizers are preparing for the 6th Annual Mindfulness Arts Festival, scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 29, continuing a tradition that has grown over six years in town.

COMING UP

The Historic District Committee meets Monday, Aug. 24. The Board of Appeals meets Tuesday, Aug. 25. The Sandwich School Committee meets Wednesday, Aug. 26.
