Sewer Commission Delays Cottage Hookup Hearing Again
Water · Meeting of September 17, 2026
Mashpee Sewer Commission continues cottage sewer hookup hearing to October 15 on a 3-1 vote. The commission granted a same-day continuance request from applicants seeking to connect 12 new four-bedroom cottages at 275 Quinaclycet Avenue and a dwelling at 47 Papanesset Avenue to the Willow Bend Wastewater Treatment Plant under the town's Flow Neutral bylaw. Resident Lynn Barbies of Surf Drive told the panel "our priority still has to be protecting conservation land," pressing the town to invoke Article 97 whenever conservation acreage is used for sewer infrastructure.
GHD engineer Mark Greenville reported treatment-plant nitrate-removal testing is being redone and pump-station work is roughly 55 percent complete. The wastewater superintendent said the new administration building, delayed by a windows-and-doors shortage, will not open until between November and January, and announced Rowella Kent will join the department October 5 as executive assistant.
