Town posts no-swim advisory at Megansett after bacteria found
Elevated bacteria levels detected in water samples at Megansett Beach prompted "no swimming" signs on July 16, while the town's ongoing sewer construction project continued to close two roads to through traffic on July 17.

The Department of Public Works reported that Brick Kiln Road remains closed between Sandwich Road and Oxbow Road, and Maravista Avenue Extension remains closed between Teaticket Highway and Mattapan Street, as sewer project construction continues. Both closures are in effect 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays, according to the town's News Flash update posted July 17.
The town also posted a bacteria advisory for Megansett Beach after a July 15 water sample showed elevated bacteria levels. Per town procedure, "no swimming" signs were posted within an hour of the county's notification, and officials said they are awaiting further test results before lifting the advisory.
Separately, the town's beach parking status page showed several lots full by early afternoon Friday, including Old Silver Beach Residents' lot, Heights, and both the east and west Menauhant lots — a reminder for residents and visitors planning weekend beach trips.

The Falmouth Public Library's "Road to Revolution: The Boston Tea Party" program runs all day Friday, July 17, and continues Saturday, July 18, at the Main library. Also Friday, the Falmouth Garden Club meets at 10 a.m. and a Lego Free Build session for kids runs at 10:30 a.m.
At the North Falmouth branch, a scavenger hunt is scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday. At the East Falmouth branch, Saturday brings a busy slate for families: a Scavenger Hunt and "It's Game Time!" both starting at 9 a.m., followed by a Silly Variety Show and Balloon Twisting program at noon. The Nip & Nap Society postpartum support group also meets Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Main library, alongside an "Intro to Sound and Energy for Relaxation and Wellbeing" session at 11 a.m.
