Truro Opens 2026 Short-Term Rental Registration Online
TRURO — A weeks-long round-the-clock closure of Old County Road is set to begin next week as crews start culvert work tied to the Herring River Restoration Project, even as the town opened its 2026 short-term rental registration process online.
TOWN HALL
The town's News Flash feed announced that a 24-hour-a-day road closure will go into effect the week of July 13 on Old County Road at Bound Brook, allowing N&M Excavating to install a box culvert as part of the Town of Wellfleet's Herring River Restoration Project. The closure is expected to last four to six weeks, and residents who use that stretch of road should plan alternate routes for the duration.
Separately, Truro's 2026 Short-Term Rental Registration is now open, with the entire process — application and payment — moved fully online. The town said payments will no longer be accepted at Town Hall, by mail, or by phone; the 2026 permit fee is $450, which includes the required inspection.
The Select Board will hold a hybrid public hearing on July 28 at 5 p.m. to set its Fiscal Year 2027 goals and objectives and review the current year's accomplishments. The town is also seeking public input on an update to its Open Space and Recreation Plan, which will guide open space and recreation priorities for the next decade; residents can share ideas via a community forum, by emailing pio@truro-ma.gov, or through the town's OSR plan webpage. The Department of Public Works is hiring a year-round union DPW Mechanic, with applications due by 3 p.m. on August 3.
SCHOOLS
The town honored two longtime educators, Nancy Winslow and Alice Rieselbach, for more than 60 combined years of service to Truro Central School, recognizing their dedication to generations of students and to the school community.
