Yarmouth Library Board Adopts Leonard Room Policy
Library · Meeting of September 28, 2026
Yarmouth library trustees adopted an amended Leonard Room policy and began rewriting after-hours access rules. Library Director David Aronson reported 258 summer reading participants, including 85 adults, and a foam party that drew about 95 children to the West Yarmouth branch. The board is deploying new computers and networking gear through a Mass Broadband Institute grant and submitted a Community Preservation Committee application to restore the building's chimneys.
Staff member Mindy is departing for the Ezra Baker School, while new hire Tracy started September 25. After comparing access policies from 15 other towns, including Mashpee's "$25 an hour" fee, trustees agreed to limit off-hours keys to town vendors and personnel and will vote on a final draft in October. The board also tabled a rewrite of its children's room policy, which addresses when staff must call police over unclaimed children, pending input from staff member Rebecca.
