Yarmouth Select Board Awards Final $19.3 Million Wastewater Contract, Passes 60 Percent Mark

Select Board · Meeting of June 9, 2026

Yarmouth Select Board awards its final wastewater contract and reorganizes leadership for 2026-27. The board voted unanimously Tuesday to award Wastewater Contract 6, the last of six contracts in its Phase 1 wastewater program, to Robert B. Auer Company for $19,319,022.76 — about $50,000 below the previous bid for the same scope, which had to be re-let due to a pump station relocation.

Public Works Director Jeff Colby said the town is now more than 60 percent complete with Phase 1 and expects permanent pavement restoration on the affected Route 28 stretch by fall 2028. In other business, Town Administrator Bob Lawton disclosed that beach concession vendor Legacy Hospitality Group has defaulted on its two-year contract; six replacement bids were received on the opening day. Lawton also reported PFAS litigation settlements have now totaled $1,800,269, including a recent $287,000 payment.

The board re-elected Tracy Post as chair, named Dorcas McGurrin vice chair, and voted 4-1 to disband the Mattakeese Utilization Committee, with Member Mark Forest casting the lone dissent over concerns about the absence of a community engagement plan for the project's next phase.
