Select Board · Meeting of October 30, 2026
Falmouth's finance director pushed back the town's projected operating deficit from fiscal 2028 to fiscal 2031 at a Select Board budget workshop. Finance Director John Arnett said his revised model, built on 10 years of state data, forecasts local receipts growing 3.7 percent annually, half the historical 6.4 percent average. Member Elizabeth Klein flagged a roughly $2 million discrepancy between two of Arnett's revenue slides, which he could not explain on the spot.
Assistant Town Manager Peter Hand said a 2026 pension funding schedule extension from 2034 to 2037 is saving the town about $800,000 annually. The board also weighed creating water and solid waste enterprise funds, and heard that 22 parking kiosks installed a year ago in Woods Hole and at the marina, costing $280,000 upfront, have brought in about $190,000 this year. No votes were taken.
