Select Board · Meeting of October 27, 2026
Yarmouth's Select Board finalized its fall special town meeting warrant, recommending eight articles including a new short-term rental bylaw that member Mark Forest alone opposed over "commercializing our residential areas." The board also approved an all-alcohol license for Kashari Indian Restaurant and Bar on a motion from Chair Tracy Post, conditioned on annual proof of applicant Wahida Javad's green card status, despite an abutter's parking objection. Public Works Director Jeff Colby outlined wastewater discharge options at Bayberry Hills Golf Course ranging from $17 million to $45 million beyond the town's existing $207 million sewer investment, after the state capped discharge at Buck Island Road at 370,000 gallons daily. Forest argued Yarmouth should instead "push back loudly and clearly" against DEP rather than build in an aquifer protection district; no vote followed.
The board also waived a 14-day limit on temporary business signs through May 31, 2027, to help businesses navigate ongoing Route 28 construction detours.
