Conservation · Meeting of October 15, 2026
Yarmouth Conservation Commission ratified an enforcement order over unpermitted boulders and vegetation removal on Long Pond, giving owner John Somes until December to seek a permit or restore the shoreline. Conservation staff said that if he missed the deadline, the town "could potentially send fines." The board also voted 5-1 to continue a backyard pool and retaining-wall project at 19 Covey Drive to November 5, after member Elly Tierney said she had not "seen sufficient evidence" that regrading near a wetland buffer wouldn't affect stormwater flow; engineer Darren Meyer said his client was "getting frustrated" over repeated continuances. Separately, the commission closed a bank-stabilization case dating to 2019 at 2 Channel Point Drive, approving a certificate of compliance that lets the owner manage invasive phragmites in perpetuity, and voted 3-1 to approve a buffer-marker design on Prince Road.
