HARWICH — The Harwich Conservation Commission voted 6-0 to continue a contested hearing on the Wychmere Harbor hotel redevelopment to November 4. Consultant Arlene Wilson of A.M. Wilson Associates, hired by Snow Inn Road abutters, argued the applicant removed wastewater comparison data rather than show the new treatment system would cut nitrogen loading, since "you can't make that comparison to see whether the new treatment plant is actually going to contribute less." Applicant representative Sean Riley of Tighe & Bond said the state's Department of Environmental Protection permit caps nitrogen at 277 kilograms per year with daily flow at 40,077 gallons. The panel's chair said he was "disappointed" the applicant "chose to address the issue about wastewater by not clarifying the issue at all." Commissioners also opened and indefinitely continued Harwich's first Pleasant Bay shellfish aquaculture application and approved $204,000 in Community Preservation Committee funding requests, including $149,000 for a West Reservoir pond study.
