ORLEANS — The Orleans Conservation Commission approved eight wetlands projects and reviewed a drop in Kent's Point traffic. The board unanimously approved a revised Standish Road house plan that cut the net buffer-zone coverage increase from 966 to 234 square feet after members objected to lawn replacing approved mitigation planting and raised concerns about a wildlife corridor, with commissioner Judith calling the lawn swap "a disappointment." Members also approved a 7,819-cubic-foot garage addition at 50 Winslow Drive, with Administrator John Janelle citing the bylaw's "automatic negative presumption" against resource-area building increases before mitigation won members over. Bob and Sally Roda received a three-year extension for their Namequoit Road sand-nourishment project, nearly two decades running.
A Cape Cod Commission traffic study showed average daily traffic at Kent's Point fell 24 percent after the town required sticker parking in 2026, prompting a thank-you letter to the Orleans Police Department.
