ORLEANS — The Orleans Conservation Commission voted 7-0 on four separate projects near Pleasant Bay, clearing construction after months of redesign. Chair Drusy Henson pressed applicants on pool-chemical disposal, telling one team "the chemicals into the dry well, I think, is not a good thing." At 75 Viking Road, applicant representative Stephen McKenna reported the mitigation planting area grew 27 percent after the house was pulled entirely out of the 50-foot buffer. At 32 Hayward Lane, engineer Sam Iamele said a detached garage was cut to half its original size and moved outside the Pleasant Bay ACEC.
The commission also issued three certificates of compliance for a South Orleans Road property and approved a Crystal Lake retaining-wall replacement Conservation Agent John Jannell estimated would cost under $5,000.
