Dennis Select Board Unanimously Approves Carleton Hall Design to Move Forward

DATELINE — DENNIS

The Dennis Select Board has unanimously voted to advance the proposed design for Carleton Hall, while the town issued a wildlife protection notice at West Dennis Beach just in time for the holiday weekend rush.

TOWN HALL

The Select Board gave unanimous approval to move forward with the proposed design of Carleton Hall, according to a town News Flash posted Tuesday morning. No additional design details were included in the announcement, but the unanimous vote signals broad board support for the project as it advances to its next phase. The full alert is available at the town's civic alerts page (https://www.town.dennis.ma.us/CivicAlerts.aspx?aid=336).

Separately, the town posted a public notice asking beachgoers at West Dennis Beach to leave hay bales in place. The bales are currently protecting piping plover chicks — a federally threatened shorebird species — and moving them could expose the birds to harm. With Fourth of July weekend beginning in days and beach traffic expected to surge, the town is asking visitors to give the marked areas a wide berth. More information is at https://www.town.dennis.ma.us/CivicAlerts.aspx?aid=337.
