Yarmouth Touts $25 Million Federal Grant for Route 28 Work

Yarmouth's town website is touting a $25 million federal BUILD grant awarded for the Yarmouth-Barnstable Route 28 Improvements Project. The project, which spans Route 28 between Yarmouth and Barnstable, carries an estimated total cost of $62,413,490.

TOWN HALL

The Town of Yarmouth is highlighting the $25 million federal BUILD grant for the Route 28 corridor, according to a notice on the town's website. With the project's total estimated cost at $62,413,490, the federal award covers less than half the bill, leaving a substantial funding gap still to be closed.

The town is also promoting two smaller opportunities. Up to $50,000 in tourism revenue funding is available through the 2026 Winter Event Grant program, and officials are seeking volunteer groups willing to "adopt" and help maintain one of Yarmouth's traffic islands. Separately, the Cape Cod Ready Renter Program has opened an affordable housing lottery for two affordable apartments at 209 Main Street (Route 28) in West Dennis, a listing posted to the town's News Flash page.

COMING UP

Voters go to the polls Tuesday, Sept. 1, for the state primary. The Planning Board meets Wednesday, Sept. 2, followed by the Conservation Commission on Thursday, Sept. 3. Town offices close Monday, Sept. 7, for Labor Day, and the Recycle and Solid Waste Advisory Committee meets Wednesday, Sept. 9.
