Eastham School Committee Welcomes New Principal, Reviews Pre-K Program Future
EASTHAM — May 12, 2026 — Eastham School Committee introduces new elementary principal and flags a $132,000 budget deficit. The committee welcomed Dylan Paul, currently Director of Specialized Instruction at Valley Prep in Cumberland, Rhode Island, who takes over as Eastham Elementary School principal on July 1 following the retirement of the current principal. Outgoing assistant superintendent Paul Donlin reported a year-end shortfall of approximately $132,000, reduced significantly after a July 31 payroll was found to have been misposted to the wrong fiscal year, and said the district received $35,753 in extraordinary relief reimbursements — nearly double the expected amount. Donlin said town administrator Rich Bienvenue has assured the district it can cover a year-end ask of close to $100,000 through reserve funds without a special town meeting. Superintendent Glenn Brand announced a review of the district's pre-kindergarten program, which carries a roughly $1.5 million annual price tag and currently has no codified cost-sharing agreement among the four towns, with committee members arguing strongly that the program should be returned to Eastham from its current location in Brewster.
