Falmouth Sewer Work Closes Maravista Avenue Extension Starting Monday

A new road closure tied to Falmouth's ongoing sewer project takes effect this morning, rerouting traffic on Maravista Avenue Extension — and residents can expect their trash and recycling pickup to run on its normal schedule despite the upcoming Independence Day holiday.

TOWN HALL

The town's sewer construction project is expanding its footprint this week. Starting today, Monday, June 29, Maravista Avenue Extension is closed between Route 28 and Mattapan Street, in addition to the existing closure of Brick Kiln Road from Sandwich Road to Oxbow Road. Both closures are in effect weekdays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Drivers should plan alternate routes during those hours.

On a separate note, the town has also confirmed that the July 4 holiday will not delay curbside collection. Residents whose pickup day falls during the holiday week should set out their bins on their regular scheduled day. Full details are available at the town's alert page: https://www.falmouthma.gov/CivicAlerts.aspx?aid=1852

COMMUNITY & ARTS

The Falmouth Public Library has a full slate of programming tonight and through the week. This evening, the Main Library hosts a Lawn Concert featuring Matt York and Angelica Vendetti at 6 p.m. — a free outdoor performance worth noting as summer gets fully underway.

Also today at the Main Library: Digital Navigator Technology Help at noon and Genealogy Research Help Desk at 2 p.m. The East Falmouth Branch is running Stories, Songs and Instruments at 10 a.m., followed by "Riot in the Garden" Songs and Stories with Jackson Gilman at 2 p.m., and Crafts and Coffee at 3:30 p.m. The North Falmouth Branch offers a Stay & Make Drop-In Craft at 10 a.m.

The Main Library is also hosting an all-day exhibit, "Road to Revolution: The Occupation of Boston," running today.
