Harwich CPC Orders Delinquent Grant Recipients to Appear at June Meeting

Harwich Community Preservation Committee orders five delinquent grant recipients to appear in person at its June meeting. The committee, meeting May 14 in the Don B. Griffin Room at Town Hall, directed its clerk to send letters to the Harwich Affordable Housing Trust, Harwich Conservation Department, Harwich Historic District Commission, Harwich Housing Authority, and Monomoy All-Sport Booster Club, all of which missed a May 7 deadline to submit required one-page annual status reports.

Member Kathy Green called the lapse unacceptable, noting the form "requires a couple of sentences of data — that's it," while member Art Bowden pushed for in-person appearances, saying it was "not unreasonable" given organizations are receiving public funds. The committee agreed to inform attendees at the June 11 meeting that future CPC funding could be affected by continued non-compliance. Member Mary separately recapped town meeting, reporting that the Affordable Housing Trust received its requested funding while two Chatham property articles failed, and that Town Administrator Jay McGrail disclosed an administrative warrant error that nearly derailed an irrigation project before it passed.
