Orleans Historic District Commission approves 288-panel commercial rooftop solar array. The commission voted unanimously at its July 23 meeting to greenlight a system proposed by My Generation Energy for a flat-roofed commercial building owned by a person identified only as Todd. Joshua, a My Generation Energy representative who joined via Zoom, confirmed the array will use Yukon N-series SEG 590-watt panels — each roughly 90 inches by 45 inches and weighing about 72 pounds — covering most of the roof outside fire-pathway and HVAC setback zones.

The building's parapet and front fencing screen the panels from street-level view, which satisfied the commission's visual-impact concerns. The standalone grid-tied system will route all electricity to the utility grid, with credits accruing to the property owner, who also has the option to enroll in a community-shared solar arrangement. Joshua was directed to visit the town office the following day to execute the required paperwork.
