Harwich Voter Information Committee Sets April 16 Candidates Forum With League of Women Voters
Other Committee · Meeting of March 18, 2026
Harwich Voter Information Committee books April 16 candidates forum and chair announces June resignation. The committee confirmed a partnership with the League of Women Voters for a forum in the Griffin Room at Town Hall from 5 to 8 p.m. on April 16, ahead of the May 19 annual election. With the March 31 nomination paper return deadline still pending, the library trustee race is the only potentially contested contest so far, with four candidates having pulled papers for two vacancies.
Town Clerk Emily Mitchell asked the committee to publicize a shortage of candidates for the Water and Wastewater Board, where two vacancies exist but only one paper has been pulled — leaving open the possibility of a Select Board appointment to fill the second seat. The committee's chair announced she will resign effective June 30, citing a new job, and noted that member Joy Jordan's term also ends that date, putting the panel's three-member quorum at risk.
