Council on Aging · Meeting of October 28, 2026

ORLEANS — The Orleans Council on Aging voted to back two Nov. 16 Special Town Meeting articles funding a long-delayed backup generator and a replacement movable wall at the Senior Center. Council on Aging Director Judy reported the center is down to three part-time drivers and is refilling a supportive day program position "for the fourth time in four years," prompting discussion of converting both roles to benefited status for the fiscal 2027 budget. "It has left me with only three drivers," Judy told the board.

Both warrant articles draw on existing town funds rather than new taxes but require a three-quarters majority to pass; the chair called that threshold "difficult." The center reopened Monday after a three-week closure for a roof replacement, HVAC conversion and other repairs.
