Orleans energy panel reviews six sites for on-street EV chargers as fire station's net-zero cost hits $800,000. Leidos project manager Jessica Strong and engineer Sam Pace presented a Massachusetts Clean Energy Center-funded study of six curbside charging locations, including Old Colony Way, two Main Street sites and Bayview Drive, after a public survey drew just 26 responses. Each site could qualify for up to $50,000 in state MassEVIP grants.

Assistant Town Manager Mark said the town's three new Depot Square chargers are awaiting Eversource energization, with rates expected between 40 and 60 cents per kilowatt-hour once a new revolving fund begins collecting revenue July 1. Committee members said consultant Ted Galanti's group priced the fire station's net-zero energy premium at $800,000, calling public buy-in for the standard "a pretty amazing thing."
