Patuisset Beach Closed, 4-Way Stop Set for Barlows Landing Monday

Patuisset Beach is temporarily closed to swimmers and water-recreation users, the town announced, just as residents prepare for a busy Fourth of July stretch that will also bring a traffic-pattern change at one busy intersection.

TOWN HALL

The town's News Flash carried three active notices as of Sunday. Patuisset Beach is closed for swimming and water activities; no reopening date was specified in the notice.

Starting Monday, June 29, the intersection of Barlows Landing Road and Shore Road will convert to a 4-way stop. Drivers who routinely use either road should expect to stop regardless of which direction they are traveling when they reach that corner.

Town Hall and all non-emergency offices will be closed Friday, July 3, in observance of the Independence Day holiday. The town noted there will be no impact to curbside rubbish and recycling collection — pickup continues on its normal schedule.

Separately, a community-needs assessment survey open to Bourne residents aged 60 and older closes Tuesday, July 1. Seniors who have not yet completed it have through the end of the month to respond. The survey has been available since June 1.

Looking ahead to the week, the Select Board meets jointly with County Commissioners on Monday, June 29, and the Finance Committee holds a virtual-only meeting the same evening. Tuesday, June 30 brings a full slate: the South Side Fire Station Building Committee meets, as does the Recreation Committee, the Bourne Commission on Disabilities, and the Select Board.

SCHOOLS

No district announcements were posted in the coverage window. On the calendar, the School Committee holds a retreat and meeting Wednesday, July 1, from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
