Sandwich Unveils Public Art Tuesday as America 250 Celebration Hits Midweek
Sandwich's weeklong America 250 celebration reaches a cultural milestone Tuesday evening with a public art unveiling and reception, one of several community-wide events running through July 4.

The town's America 250 commemoration, which launched June 27, continues through Independence Day with family-friendly programming designed to reflect on Sandwich's history while looking toward the future. Tuesday, June 30, brings a Public Art Unveiling and Reception — the calendar's most concrete dated event this week — open to the public.
Also timely for residents: Transfer Station permits expire June 30. Current 2025–2026 permits must be renewed to maintain uninterrupted access; renewed permits run July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027. Renewals can be handled at Town Hall or online.
On the road-work front, drainage construction is scheduled for June 30 and July 1 on Kiahs Way near No. 57. That section will be closed during work hours, though full access will be restored at the end of each day. Separately, resurfacing of Christopher Hollow Road and nearby streets is slated to begin July 8; work runs 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
The Department of Public Works and Police Department are also reminding drivers that the "Slow Down – In Our Town" public safety campaign is in effect as summer traffic and the America 250 festivities bring additional visitors to town roads.
