Truro Closes Beach Point Landing to Swimming Over Bacteria
TRURO — Truro health officials have closed Beach Point Landing to swimming after water testing turned up elevated bacteria levels, the town said in an emergency alert, while Town Moderator business and a run of committee appointments and vacancies rounded out a busy stretch at Town Hall.

The town's emergency alert did not specify a reopening timeline for Beach Point Landing; officials advised residents to avoid swimming there until further notice.
Town Moderator announced the appointment of Cass Johnson and Clint Kershaw to the Finance Committee for three-year terms expiring June 30, 2029, in a message dated July 11.
The Board of Assessors said FY27 preliminary property values are now available as part of a certification required every five years under Massachusetts General Law Chapter 40, Section 56.
The Walsh Property Advisory Committee is seeking candidates for five voting seats and two alternate seats with staggered terms; applications are due July 22 at 4 p.m., and a revised committee charge is expected to post in mid-July.
The town is updating its Open Space and Recreation Plan, which will guide priorities for the next decade. Residents can weigh in at a community forum, by emailing pio@truro-ma.gov, or via www.truro-ma.gov/osrplan.
The Select Board will hold a hybrid public hearing July 28 at 5 p.m. to set its Goals and Objectives for the coming fiscal year and review the current year's accomplishments.
Barnstable County is sharing information on a proposed Charter Study Commission that will appear as a ballot question on the November 2026 state election ballot, including candidate requirements and filing deadlines.
Separately, the Board of Health's July 21 meeting has been canceled.

The Truro Public Library has opened "Art in the Anne H. Brock Room," an exhibit from The Truro Group.
The library's "Plant a Seed, Read" program, made possible by the Friends of the Truro Library, is underway.
The library's outdoor StoryWalk®, "Poo-Dunit? A Forest Floor Mystery," continues through July 17.

The StoryWalk® at the library runs through Friday, July 17. The Board of Library Trustees meets Friday, July 17, and the Board of Registrars meets Monday, July 20. The library hosts Mahjong, a Children's Community Garden Group session, and a talk on Prohibition on Cape Cod with Don Wilding, all Tuesday, July 21. Applications for the Walsh Property Advisory Committee are due Wednesday, July 22, at 4 p.m., the same day the library holds its Stay Strong Cancer Support Group and a performance by Robert the Guitar Guy.
