Yarmouth panel extends two CPA funding deadlines
Other Committee · Meeting of September 9, 2026
Yarmouth's Community Preservation Committee extended two conservation funding deadlines and agreed to pay $4,350 in dues to the Community Preservation Coalition. Members unanimously extended a $37,000 salt-marsh and invasive-species restoration award from the 2024 Annual Town Meeting by two years, and pushed a Department of Natural Resources wastewater assessment contract deadline to December 31, 2026. Planning Board liaison Joanne Crowley told the committee the state's Affordable Housing Act has stripped local control over accessory dwelling units, calling it "an abrogation of local control," with new zoning articles on ADUs and short-term rentals headed to a November 16 special town meeting.
A member identified as Al reported the Yarmouth Housing Authority's request for proposals on a 19-acre parcel, opposed by the Select Board, would set aside more than half the land under a permanent conservation restriction. The committee also approved minutes from three prior hearings, one with an abstention.
