Yarmouth Public Art Committee begins grant-funded cultural assets mapping project

Yarmouth's Public Art Committee launches a grant-funded digital cultural assets map with Cape Cod Commission help. Megan Eldridge, Director of Community Development, convened three of the panel's four members April 6 to hear a presentation from Cape Cod Commission Chief Planner Chloe Schaefer and GIS Manager Ann Reynolds, who are building an ArcGIS Online application cataloging the town's cultural sites under the state's District Local Technical Assistance program. The committee settled on a working list of asset categories including veterans memorials, public art installations, museums, libraries, music venues, live theater, historic buildings, scenic vistas, and cemeteries, and Eldridge confirmed she will circulate a summary of homework assignments before the May 4 meeting.
A separate update revealed that a town beautification and promotion revolving account, approved at town meeting in 2014, was removed from the warrant in 2015 after staff changes and no longer exists. The grant funding the mapping project expires in December 2026.
