The board voted 5-0 on all three petitions at its June 11 hybrid meeting, with Chair Sean Igoe presiding. The most detailed action involved Petition 5239, approving a special permit for SRS Building Products — a wholesale roofing and building supply distributor — to store up to 400 gallons of hazardous materials at 60 Ansel Hallett Road, the former FedEx distribution center, in West Yarmouth's Aquifer Protection District; the Board of Health had unanimously recommended approval on May 18 with three conditions, including a storage cap, a conspicuously posted spill plan, and a ban on vehicle washing.
The board also granted a special permit for an expanded sign package at the Stop and Shop at 484 Station Ave., where the primary wall sign will grow from 45 to 117 square feet, justified by the store's roughly 350-foot setback from the road; Vice Chair Dick Martin flagged missing trees from the original site landscaping plan, and the board agreed to refer potential enforcement to the building department rather than condition the sign approval. In Petition 5238, the board modified Special Permit 5079 to substitute Alicia Ludwig as sole owner of the Howliday LLC dog-boarding business on Industrial Park Road, replacing former co-owner Matthew White, after determining Ludwig had been a principal of the LLC since its formation in 2015.
