Yarmouth Zoning Board grants one-time art show variance, approves oversized bank sign, and OKs ADU ridge raise, all by 4-0 votes. The board, chaired by Sean Igoe and sitting with members Barbara Murphy, Anthony Panebianco, and one member identified only as John, acted on three petitions at its April 23 meeting. Kylie Owen received a one-year variance to hold a free art show at 189 Center Street in Yarmouth Port, limited to a single 2026 date with no road signage permitted; Igoe told her the residential R40 district would not support repeat approvals and encouraged her to seek a commercially zoned venue for future years.
Cape and Island Signs co-owner Joseph Scott won a variance allowing a 46-inch attached sign at Cape and Coast Bank's 121 Route 6A branch to remain, nearly double the 24-inch maximum, after Panebianco grounded the relief in the building's unique shape rather than the financial hardship of removal. Loravelle Santos, doing business as Loravelle Masonry, LLC, received a special permit to raise the ridge of an accessory dwelling unit at 96 South Shore Drive from roughly 14 to 17 feet, conditioned on a board finding that the lot is built out and no further impervious coverage may be added without returning for relief.
