Yarmouth Zoning Board Unanimously Approves Three Special Permits in Single Session

Zoning Board · Meeting of May 28, 2026

Yarmouth Zoning Board approves seasonal employee housing expansion at Harborside Suites and two residential permits. The board voted 5-0 on all three petitions at its May 28 meeting, with Chair Sean Igoe presiding. Attorney Gary Blank, representing managing member Darshon Ghandi of Hanuman-Dashon LLC, secured a special permit allowing the Route 28 motel to dedicate 23 rooms — up from 16 last season — to housing 48 J-1 visa workers for eight named local employers including Star Market, Shaw's Markets, and the Red Jacket, running May 1 through October 31.

A police call-log check by Officer Nicholas Giamarco turned up zero incidents at the property during the entire 2025 operating period, which Igoe called the clearest evidence of self-policing. The board also approved a special permit for Daniel and Kathleen Charette of 119 High Bank Road to convert a deck into a sunroom, and for Sidney Horton of 12 Denver Drive to build a 36-by-60 foot barn to shelter and restore boats on his heavily wooded West Yarmouth lot.
