ZBA Delays Quaker Run Road Garage Ruling

Zoning Board · Meeting of September 9, 2026

Mashpee's Zoning Board postpones ruling on a part-built garage snagged by a decades-old "paper road." Chair Ron Bonvie told the applicant's attorney, Christopher Crane, he was "leaning towards" finding that a 15-foot strip behind 34 Quaker Run Road is a road, not private land, after neighbors including Connie Abair said their deeds guarantee water access across it. The town's zoning enforcement officer said he may have erred issuing the original building permit and is willing to rescind it. The board unanimously approved special permits for home rebuilds at 68 Waterway and 14 Little Neck Lane, and continued a contractor-yard expansion at 52 Mercantile Way after abutter Eric Klapper said it would bring "a drastic elevation in noise, lighting, glare and odor." Both the Quaker Run Road and Mercantile Way matters return October 28 at the Mashpee Public Library.

The board also approved its August 26 meeting minutes.
