Barnstable Conservation Commission Votes to Stay Remote on Zoom Through June 2027

BARNSTABLE — July 21, 2026 — Barnstable Conservation Commission unanimously extends remote Zoom meetings through June 2027. Voting 6-0 at its July 21 meeting, the commission cited a planned Town Hall elevator replacement — expected to run from September through December 2026 — and the convenience of remote access for seasonal and out-of-state participants as the principal reasons to remain on Zoom for the full duration of the state's emergency-order authorization. Chair Tom Marcello also won re-election unanimously, with Angela Tangney named vice chair and co-clerk and Bill Kosciulik named co-clerk. The board cleared seven applications in roughly one hour, including three unanimous negative determinations for the Town of Barnstable Recreation Department to install seasonal MobiMat beach-access matting at Craigville, Cotuit, and Veterans beaches — each estimated at approximately $10,000 per installation, partly funded by the Barnstable Disability Commission — and an invasive-removal and landscaping NOI at 1000 Main Street in Cotuit requiring Wilkinson Ecological Design to remain contractor of record for the project's duration.
