Harwich Senior Center Sets Five August Events Before Passport to Summer Closes

Harwich Senior Center announces five August programs as Passport to Summer nears its August 26 deadline. Rosa Wright of the Council on Aging outlined the lineup in a segment recorded for the Harwich Channel: Barnstable County Public Health nurses will present a heart health talk and offer cholesterol checks on August 5 at 1:30 p.m.; naturalist Philip Kyle, a veteran of the Natural History Museum and the National Seashore, will speak on how weather shaped the Pilgrims' decisions on August 11 at 1 p.m.; a smart home technology session is set for August 21 at 10 a.m.; the Halls family, seven generations of local cranberry farmers, will present on August 27 at 10 a.m.; and a season-closing "Sundown on Summer" party with crafts, music, and food by chef Linda follows that afternoon at 1:30 p.m. All events require advance registration with the COA and count toward the Passport to Summer booklet, whose participants are eligible to win a $75 grocery gift card.
